Level 2 EV Charger Installation — Done Right
One visit. Panel assessment, permit, installation, and inspection — complete. We've installed chargers for Tesla, Ford, GM, Rivian, and every other EV on the market.
How the Installation Works
Panel Assessment
We check your existing panel capacity. A Level 2 charger draws 40–50A continuously — if your panel is at 100A or close to full, we'll tell you before you buy a charger, not after.
Permit Pull
We pull the permit with your city or county before we start. This protects your homeowner's insurance, satisfies your HOA if required, and makes the charger eligible for utility rebates.
Wire Run & Installation
We run a dedicated 240V circuit from your panel to wherever your car parks — garage wall, carport, or exterior. We mount and wire the EVSE unit and test the full circuit.
Inspection & Sign-Off
A city inspector signs off on the work. You get a permit card for your records — important if you ever sell the house. We schedule and attend the inspection for you.
Brands We Install
We're brand-agnostic. We install and wire any UL-listed Level 2 EVSE. The most common units we see:
Need a Panel Upgrade Too?
If your home is on a 100A panel, a Level 2 charger requires an upgrade to 200A. We do both on the same visit — saving you the cost of a second service call and a second permit pull. Bundled panel upgrade + EV charger typically runs $2,200–$3,500 installed. Call for an exact quote.
Common Questions
Do I need a permit for a home EV charger in Utah?
Yes — in virtually every Utah city and county, a 240V circuit requires a permit. We handle it. Installing without a permit can void your homeowner's insurance for any electrical fire and complicate a home sale.
Can I install a Level 2 charger in an unattached garage or carport?
Yes. We run conduit or use direct-burial cable depending on the distance and your local code. We'll tell you the most cost-effective route on the assessment visit.
What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 charging?
Level 1 is a standard 120V household outlet — adds roughly 4–5 miles of range per hour. Level 2 runs on 240V (same as your dryer) and adds 20–30 miles per hour. For most drivers, Level 2 means a full charge overnight.
Are there rebates for EV charger installation in Utah?
Rocky Mountain Power has offered rebates for qualifying customers — check their current program at rockymountainpower.net as amounts change. Some EV manufacturers also offer installation credits. Because we pull permits and use licensed electrical work, your installation qualifies. We'll send you the rebate form after the job.
How far in advance do I need to schedule?
Typically 5–10 business days for non-urgent installs. If you're taking delivery of a new EV, call as soon as you have a delivery date and we'll line it up.
